Rhapsody is a free synth Pack based on the vintage Elka Rhapsody 490, one of the very first string synthesizers, a minimal but unique machine from the creators of the popular Synthex.
Released in 1974 by the Italian manufacturer Elka, the Rhapsody 490 is a lush polyphonic analog string synthesizer. It has been used by Jean Michel Jarre, Vangelis and Tangerine Dream and appears in loads of albums in 70’s and 80’s. The Rhapsody 490 comes with 3 presets (Violoncello, Strings and a combo of the two tones) characterized by a very unique chorus effect but the unit used for this Pack has been hacked with a switch to bypass it. Rhapsody Pack is based on the 3 preset sounds with and without the chorus and delivers 20 Ableton Synth devices designed using Sampler/Simpler parameters.
The Kontakt version of Rhapsody includes PRIMUS, a virtual instrument with an ultra-friendly interface and a solid set of synthesizer parameters. All the sounds included in Rhapsody can be easily selected using the Waveform menu and then tweaked using 25 different filters with cutoff and resonance, one multishape LFO assignable to Filter, Volume and Pitch and two envelopes for filter and amplifier. The Live version of Rhapsody has been designed to perfectly fit into your Ableton Live. All the included devices can be directly installed in your "Packs" section and previewed when selected in the Live browser. They have also been organized in Live standardized categories so that you can find them also in the browser's "Categories" section. Moreover, all the sounds included in Rhapsody have similar perceived volumes and feature 8 macro controls with volume compensation to avoid unwanted distortions.
